November 19, 2015

Reading

When we return from Thanksgiving break we will continue our book clubs.

 

 

Writing

We will continue our personal essay unit. This includes creating introductions, supporting our ideas with evidence in the form of short stories, and writing conclusions that remind our readers of our big ideas.

 

 

 

 

Math

We will review addition and subtraction strategies in preparation for the Unit 3 test. Please take time over Thanksgiving break to have your students practice their facts on xtramath.org, other math websites, or with flashcards.

 

 

HOMEWORK

RAH sheets are due

Monday, November 30th.

Your child will receive a new RAH sheet at that time. Please be sure to sign the RAH sheet. Your child is expected to read for 60 minutes each week.

Spelling

thought, though, your, you’re, with

 

All classes will be taking their spelling test on Friday, December 4th.

 

 

 

Science

We are wrapping up our Earth Science unit. We will begin to learn about forces and motion.

 

Social Studies

No School - Thanksgiving Break – Friday, November 20th-29th. School resumes on Monday, November 30th.

 

Thank you for the snacks for our Friendship Feast! We appreciate your support!

 

There will be a Family Fun Night on Thursday, December 10th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. We hope to see you there!

 

We are doing a book exchange for our holiday parties this year. Please purchase a book for $5 or less. Please send the book in by Wednesday, December 16th.

 

The Kiwanis club presented all the third grade students with dictionaries today. They will be kept here at school for the students to use until the end of the year.

 

Thank you to the firefighters for teaching us about fire safety this week!
